Last of the Birdsville Track

November 18, 2013  •  Leave a Comment

Another early morning start for a 3km walk out to the sand dune behind Mungerannie to look for Eyrean Grasswren. Right at the 3km point we finally saw a pair of Eyrean Grasswrens. I had seen them on the trip last year but it was great to see them again. We then went to look for Banded Whiteface. This was a bird I had missed seeing last year. We tried a different site and found one reasonably confiding Banded Whiteface.

It was time to head back south down the Birdsville Track to stay the night in Port Augusta. There was one final exciting moment on the track. As we were driving several Flock Bronzewing were spotted feeding on the ground and took flight. We hopped out of the car and then many more took flight. Another amazing sight.
